from the dept. We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join a National Science Foundation supported investigation of maternal inheritance of mitochondria as a constraint on male adaptation. Using the pseudoscorpion, Cordylochernes scorpioides, as a model system, the research encompasses whole-genome mitochondrial DNA sequencing, sperm competition studies and analyses of the evolutionary response to maternally- and paternally-based selection regimes on traits important in sperm competitive ability. Minimum requirements are a Ph.D. in evolutionary biology, evolutionary genetics, entomology, molecular genetics or related field, and a record of publication in peer-reviewed, scientific journals. Ability to assist in the supervision of a large group of undergraduate and graduate students is essential. Candidates with expertise in DNA sequencing, DNA profiling, quantitative genetics and/or arthropod dissection and microscopy are especially desired.
