GRIZZLY BEAR field volunteer opportunity

One volunteer position is available on a Ph.D. project investigating ecology of grizzly bears in response to mining development. This is a sensational opportunity to obtain experience in a large carnivore project, and not have to pay for it! Previous relevant field experience and a cealn driving record are assets. Plant id skills preferred.

Essential:

  • love the outdoors
  • ability for extensive hikes in rugged terrain keen eye for detail
  • strong work ethic
  • sense of humour

Responsibilities:

  • investigations of sites previously visited by grizzly bears
  • vegetation plot surveys
  • radio-tracking

Accommodation: You have to provide personal camping gear.

Eligibility: Undergraduate student or recent graduate, with a relevant degree in biological or environmental sciences

Position dates: September 20-October 31, 2008
