from the dept. FIELD ASSISTANT needed for behavior conservation study of the critically endangered pacific pocket mouse, April through August. Duties include live-trapping, marking, taking genetic and fecal samples from small mammals (pocket mice, deer mice, harvest mice), tracking movements of pocket mice using radio-telemetry, conducting behavioral experiments on communication (sandbathing) and habitat surveys and ultimately translocating animals within Camp Pendleton (Oceanside, CA). Much of the field work takes place at night. Candidate should be organized, work well with others and have a good attitude toward working on a shifted schedule (at night). Salary: $15/hour Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, wildlife, or related field. Preference will be given to applicants who have field research experience, especially with small mammal live-trapping, radio-telemetry, and/or night work.
