Non-Human Primate Enrichment Manager position available at the Tulane National Primate Research Center

Position Description:

This individual will supervise and organize the daily duties of the Enrichment Technicians in the Unit of Environmental Enrichment at the TNPRC. The Primate Enrichment Manager will oversee the implementation of the environmental enrichment program. This individual will be responsible for the daily decision-making related to workload allocation, social management of nonhuman primates, behavioral interventions, animal training and purchasing. They will compile data to complete reports of progress on the implementation and outcomes of our program activities to the Behavioral Scientist. This individual will also organize the training of Enrichment Technicians other Veterinary Medicine personnel that participate in behavioral management implementation. They will assist in conducting behavioral research, and compile data for analysis and interpretation.

Qualifications:

This management-level position requires a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree strongly preferred) in anthropology, psychology, zoology, or related field. A minimum of two years experience in implementing or planning environmental enrichment techniques for animals in order to improve their well-being required. At least four years experience including supervisory experience strongly referred. Familiarity with Animal Welfare legislation and policies required. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including excellent time management and organizational skills, required. Excellent computer skills including knowledge of standard office software required. Ability to perform data management and analysis and to develop training material required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
