Permanent position as Professor/qualification fellowship in Marine  
ecology in Norway

The Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture seeks applicants for the  
position of a full Professor in marine ecology with interest for  
aquaculture related issues. The candidate should be a well- 
established, professor-competent scientist having proven expertise in  
marine ecology. Research interests can include environmental  
requirements of intensive or extensive aquaculture. The appointee  
should have a Ph.D in biology, postdoctoral and/or academic experience  
including supervision of doctoral students and a strong publication  
record, the potential to establish competitive, externally funded  
research programmes, and be willing to participate in  
interdisciplinary, collaborative research enhancing the existing  
programmes. A strong commitment to teaching and supervision of MSc and  
PhD studies are important. Deadline 4. August 2008.

    Scientific program

The 2009 ethological conference emphasizes the integrative nature of
ethology, and its relationships to other disciplines, including the the
human sciences and neuroscience. The overall goal of this conference is
to highlight relationships and encourage new connections between
ethological and non-ethological approaches to similar problems. To this
end, plenary talks will include pairs of ethologists and non-ethologists
who are working on related questions, symposia will focus on current and
future cross-disciplinary research, and ample time will be provided for
roundtables and discussion on integrative topics.

Rennes is a university city with 60 000 students. The conference will be

are located near the city centre. The historical and cultural centre of

We expect registration fees to be at a very reasonable price. They will
include daily lunches (French buffets).

The program for the workshop entitled "Integrative Biology of Scatter
Hoarding: Ecology, Psychology and Neuroscience" to be held on 8-9
August 2008 is now available on the website

The workshop will take place during the two days immediately
preceding the meeting of the International Society for Behavioral
Ecology at Cornell University.

The deadline for registration has been extended to 11 July 2008.  We
are also still accepting abstract submissions for poster

A postdoctoral fellowship on peptides and social behaviour in zebrafish
(Behavioural Biology, Department of Biology, Utrecht University, The
Netherlands).

Applications are invited for a two-year postdoctoral position to work on
zebrafish behaviour, with a closing date of July 25, 2008. This
collaborative project, funded by a Utrecht University ŒHigh Potentials¹
grant, focuses on peptidal influences on social behaviour, with
complimentary studies on fish and human behaviour. This wide ranging  
study
has four new hires in total and will be a close collaboration between  
groups
within Psychology (led by Dr. Jack van Honk) and Biology (led by Dr.  
Simon
