POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN BEHAVIORAL ECOLOGY

Illinois State University

A 2-year postdoctoral position is available January 1, 2008 to conduct 
research on an NSF-supported study focused on sexual conflict in 
gift-giving insects or a collaborative project investigating reproductive 
allocation in house wrens. Responsibilities include independent research, 
some supervision of graduate and undergraduate students, and mentored 
teaching of one course per year. Salary: $36,000 plus applicable benefits.

DIRECTOR: Bowdoin College invites applications for a position as Director 
of the Bowdoin Scientific Station on Kent Island, New Brunswick, beginning 
Spring 2008. This non-tenurable, 12-month position is renewable at 
five-year intervals. Ph.D. required, postdoctoral experience preferred. 
The Director is expected to pursue an active summer research program on 
Kent Island on any aspect of terrestrial or marine science, involve and 
mentor undergraduates in field research, and serve as a resource for 
visiting scientists. Responsibilities include seeking external funding to 
support the field station, recruiting faculty, graduate and undergraduate 
student researchers, communicating with alumni, and spending at least one 
semester on campus per year while offering one course in his or her field 
of interest. Please submit letter of application, curriculum vitae, and a 
description of your research interests and teaching philosophy.  Bowdoin

The Department of Biology at Vassar College invites applications for a 
tenure-track faculty position at the level of assistant professor 
beginning Fall 2008. Vassar College is an equal opportunity/ affirmative

research and teaching interests may include but need not be limited to 
animal behavior, behavioral genetics, behavioral ecology, evolution, 
neurophysiology, sensory biology, or computational biology.  The ideal 
candidate will demonstrate the ability to span several levels of 
biological organization in their teaching and research.  The successful 
candidate will be expected to develop an upper-level course in his/ her 
specialty as well as teach at the intermediate and introductory levels. 
There is an opportunity to teach in the interdepartmental program of 
Neuroscience and Behavior.  Development of a productive research program 
with student participation will be expected and start-up funding and 
personal laboratory space will be provided.  A Ph.D. is required and
