ABS Post-Meeting Excursion to Northern Utah - August 17, 2006

- Bear River migratory bird refuge1, at the northern tip of the Great Salt Lake, home to many shorebirds and waterfowl;
- the USDA-ARS Bee Biology and Systematics Lab2, which specializes in non-honeybee pollination of field and orchard crops; and the
- Coyote Predator Ecology and Behavior Project at the National Wildlife Research Center field station. 3
Itinerary:

Day tour cost covers minivan rentals and gas. Bring your binoculars, sunscreen, bug spray, and drinking water!!. We may be able to hire a bus (and driver), instead of using minivans, in which case we might also leave a bit later in the morning and return somewhat earlier in the evening.
Cost per person is $30.00 paid by August 1, 2006

Additional personal costs are breakfast/snacks, ~$10.00-15.00 for lunch, and optional donation to Bird Refuge.
Minivan rentals have already been arranged; please indicate whether you would be willing to drive a 7-passenger minivan, and include names and contact information (e-mail is best) for all participants for whom you are paying. Trip limited to 28 participants, with 1 driver needed/minivan. Note: This trip is being organized by ABS members Theresa Pitts-Singer, Cory Vorel, and Sylvia Halkin. We’ve done our best to plan a good trip to facilities that are regularly visited by the public, but each participant must accept full responsibility for his or her own safety and enjoyment.
