Job Title: ASPCA Meet Your Match (MYM) Research Assistant(1-year full-time temp position) ::Supervisor: ASPCA SR. Director, Shelter Behavior Programs – andOn-site SpokAnimal Operations Director
The SpokAnimal C.A.R.E. a 501©3 non-profit humane society is an open admission shelter, that operates seven days a week. The organization is dedicated to ending euthanasia of the animals in our care. Employee & Volunteer teams conduct ASPCA Meet Your Match SAFER™ evaluations of dogs available for adoption, followed by Meet Your Match™ Canine-ality™ to complete the ASPCA Meet Your Match™ program.

The ASPCA Mission:Orange Community of Spokane is in need of a Research Assistant that promotes enthusiasm dedication and a strong interest in conducting, analyzing and compiling research data. This is a great opportunity for candidates/students with a strong interest in Animal Behavior and Animal Welfare.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the ASPCA Meet Your Match program in the Spokane community
  • Collect data on various research projects relating to MYM
  • Develop supporting material for the MYM program
  • Collaborate with ASPCA staff and Interact with the public
Qualifications:
  • Applied experience with animal behavior research and/or graduate experience in animal behavior
  • Broad knowledge of animal sheltering issues, including, animal health and behavior, computer applications, and community relations preferred
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Position requires self-directed individual with problem-solving ability
  • Excellent communication skills
Background:
  • Understanding of Learning theory
  • Experience with Classical and Operant conditioning
  • Knowledge of the ASPCA Meet Your Match program
  • Animal sheltering experience a plus

Education: MS or Ph.D. preferred

Additional Information:
Must occasionally lift over 35 lbs
Occasional travel possible
1 year temporary position
