DUTIES SPECIFIED IN BYLAWS (Article II, Section 4):
1. Substitute for Second President-Elect, if necessary. An exception to this rule is that the Senior Member-at-Large is to assume responsibility for the Allee Award session if the Second President-Elect is unable to serve (Policy, Section 9 d).
2. Serve as a member of the Education Committee.
3. Serve as Chairperson of the Nomination Committee:
a. Develop a slate of at least two nominees for each elected office becoming vacant. Candidates must be members in good standing. Coordinate nominations and election regarding USECC and SICB, also.
b. Obtain the consent of each nominee and have them send Secretary a brief vitae statement following those of prior Newsletters.
c. Forward the slate of candidates to the Secretary for publication in Newsletter.
4. Serve as Chairperson of the Career Awards Committee, which shall consist of seven persons including the Past-President, three junior members (not more than five years past the Ph.D. at the time of appointment) appointed for staggered terms of three years each such that at least one term expires each year, and three senior members (the Members-at-Large) appointed for staggered terms of three years each such that at least one term expires each year.
DUTIES SPECIFIED BY POLICY:
1. Follow nomination time table as specified in Section 5a 1a.
2. Conduct request for nominations and activities of Career Awards Committee according to Section 12. Be responsible for all aspects of the awards, including invitations to awardees, plaques, and presentations.
SUGGESTIONS:
1. Start the nomination process early in calendar year with involvement of entire Nomination Committee, so that the Secretary can be informed of slate for the August Newsletter.
2. Submit annual report, including expenses and proposed budget, to the Executive Committee.
3. Submit annual report, correspondence files, and other appropriate archive materials to Historian.
4. Provide suggestions to the Parliamentarian regarding revisions to this statement on the duties of this office.
