DUTIES SPECIFIED BY CONSTITUTION (Article 5):

Serve in advisory capacity and in manners deemed appropriate by the Officers.

DUTIES SPECIFIED IN BYLAWS:

1. The First Member-at-Large serves as chair of the Research Grants Committee(Article III, Sec. 2 b and Article IV, Sec. 10 a) and is responsible for administering the E.O. Wilson Conservation Award and the Student Research Grants Award. The Second Member-at-Large serves as chair and is responsible for administering the Developing Nations Research Grants and the Latin American Travel Grants, including review of nations excluded from eligibility. The Third Member-at-Large serves in an advisory capacity and can help to administer the competition when called upon. The First Member-at-Large maintains and sends out rules for the Research Grants competition when requested.

2. Serve on the Career Awards Committee.

DUTIES SPECIFIED BY POLICY:

1. In the absence of the Second President-Elect, the First Member-at-Large serves as the Chairperson of the Allee Award Committee (Section 9 c).

2. The Research Grants program shall be administered by the Members-at-Large according to Section 13. The Chair shall see that there is no conflict of interest concerning the judges and the applicants.

3. The Members-at-Large serve on the Career Awards Committee chaired and administered by the Past-President (Section 12).

SUGGESTED AND IMPLIED ACTIVITIES:

1. Submit annual report, including expenses and proposed budget, to the Executive Committee.

2. Submit annual report, correspondence files, and other appropriate archive materials to Historian.

3. Provide suggestions to the Parliamentarian regarding revisions to this statement on the duties of this office.
