A. <u>Committee Responsibilities</u>:</p>
<p>
BYLAWS (Article IV, Section 12):</p>
<p>
1. Identify and consider issues in applied animal 
behavior, alert ABS membership of relevant issues, and make 
recommendations to the Executive Committee.</p>

<p>
2. Advise President on candidates for the Board of 
Professional Certification (BPC).</p>
<p>
3. Charge the BPC to conduct the &quot;Program for 
Certification of Applied Animal Behaviorists.&quot; The BPC functions 
as a working subcommittee within the Committee under the ultimate 
supervision of the Committee Chair; BPC members are also Committee 
members.</p>
<p>
4. Committee Chair and members not part of the Board are 
to conduct an annual review and audit of BPC and the certification 
program, submitting their report to the Executive Committee. The 
purpose of the review and monitoring of BPC activities is to assure on 
behalf of the Society a fair, equitable, and uniform certification 
process as well as responsible fiscal management.</p>
<p>
ADDITIONAL:</p>
<p>
1. Submit Committee annual report to Executive 
Committee, with the annual BPC review report appended. The BPC report 
should identify monies received and on hand plus expenditures for the 
year.</p>

<p>
2. Send annual report and relevant materials to 
Historian. These should include materials of the Board of Professional 
Certification.</p>
<p>
3. Update this &quot;Duties&quot; entry, submitting 
suggestions to Parliamentarian.</p>
<p>
B. <u>Subcommittee Responsibilities</u>:</p>
<p>
POLICY:</p>

<p>
The BPC is to conduct the &quot;Program for 
Certification of Applied Animal Behaviorists&quot; according to the 
established guidelines (see Section 28). </p>
<p>
ADDITIONAL:</p>
<p>
1. The BPC Chair should submit subcommittee annual 
report to Committee Chair by mid-Spring to allow Committee Chair and 
non-BPC members time to make their annual review. The BPC report should 
identify monies received and on hand plus expenditures for the year. 
Furthermore, the BPC should honor the request of the Committee Chair 
for additional information and materials to facilitate monitoring of 
the BPC activities to assure a fair, equitable, and uniform 
certification process.</p>
<p>
2. See that BPC annual report and relevant archive 
materials are sent to Historian. </p>
