BYLAWS (Article IV, Section 8):
1. Maintain list of animal behavior films and videos.
2. With Program Officer, develop film sessions for annual meeting.
3. Responsible for the Jack Ward and Animal Behavior Society film awards (see also Article VI, Sec. 3).
POLICY (Section 10):
Run film competitions according to rules outlined in this section.
ADDITIONAL:
1. Organize and present the annual Film Festival for the annual ABS meetings:
a. Arrange previewing and shipping of films for the ABS Film Competition and the Jack Ward Memorial Film Competition. This task includes initial letters of invitation, correspondence and phone calls for details of previewing, acknowledgment of receipt of films, and notification of film return.
b. Selection of semifinalists and notification of semifinalist status; correspondence to confirm film for the meeting dates.
c. Reminder to companies to ship one month prior to Festival.
d. Arrange projection facilities for videos and films at meeting.
e. Preparation of Film Festival program brochure.
f. Showing of films at annual ABS meeting and selection of winners.
g. Purchase of plaque and award certificates plus send awards to participants.
h. Announce and notify winners.
i. Return of films following Festival, with letter of thanks.
2. Prepare film list at regular 3-year intervals, summarizing available animal behavior films and videos. Computerize the lists for easier updating and print-out. Remind ABS membership of its availability.
3. Answer correspondence concerning film related matters for ABS members and the general public.
4. Submit annual report to Executive Committee.
5. Send annual report and relevant materials to Historian. These should include correspondence with Executive Committee members, program for each annual festival, rating sheets, letter of announcement of semifinalists and finalists, and updated film list brochure.
