INTRODUCTION

The official working documents of the Animal Behavior Society are the Constitution, Bylaws, and Policy. The following outline of responsibilities is an attempt to summarize but not replace those documents.

Committees, in general, may initiate committee activities with approval of the Executive Committee or from the ABS membership at the annual business meeting (CONSTITUTION, Article 7). Members can be appointed to committees for terms up to three years; reappointment is possible. Terms are staggered, allowing a fraction of the terms to expire each year (BYLAWS, Article IV).

Committee chairs shall submit an annual report to the Executive Committee, including roster of members and their terms (POLICY, Section 20). It is suggested that copies of the annual report, including expenses and proposed budget, be sent to all members of the Executive Committee, to the Historian, and to chairpersons of other committees.

All office holders, including chairpersons, who have received any money from the Treasurer during the fiscal year must submit a statement of money received, expenditures, and money on hand at the end of the fiscal year, 30 June. This report must be sent to all members of the Executive Committee (POLICY, Section 17).
