Grants Application deadlines have passed for the 2009/2010 cycle
Awards will be announced in April 2010. A new round of applications will be accepted starting in the fall of 2011
- Grant site open:: Monday, 2 November 2009
- *Grant site activate of accounts, Friday December 18th 2009
- Grant Site close:: Wednesday, 30 December 2009 (midnight, Eastern Standard Time).
Submissions will not be accepted after the closing date.
* Students who have paid their society dues in full prior to Friday, 18 December 2009 will be eligible to submit a grant application. All students must contact the ABS Central Office by this date (18th December 2009) so we can verify and then activate their account on the grants submission site or they will not be able to log in and submit their materials.
- Applicants need to read all instructions carefully. Applications that do not conform to the instructions will not be reviewed. The Grants Committee advises applicants to work off-line on the Application materials, and wait to upload and submit the completed Application until after input has been obtained from multiple sources.
- Read the ASAB/ABS Guidelines for the Use of Animals in Research (updated in each January issue of the Journal: Animal Behaviour). A copy (pdf) can be found at this link:
As part of the application, you must agree to abide by the ASAB/ABS Guidelines above for the Use of Animals in Research. If an applicant does not agree to abide by the guidelines, the application CAN NOT be considered for funding.
- Download the example application document (Step 2) above and review the document.
- You only need to submit one application to apply for a grant. Select only those grant categories to which you meet the requirements (see the ABS Grants and Awards Information web page for requirement information for each grant).
- Before you start the on-line submission process (Step 3), make sure you have your proposal, budget, curriculum vitae, and Animal Care information (per the Ethics Guidelines) in pdf format to upload as a single document.
You will not be able to prepare an acceptable application unless you follow all of the instructions and have all of the necessary information in your application.
- Remember you must be a current ABS member to apply for an award or grant. If you are not a current member with your dues paid in full, you may contact the ABS Central Office to become a new member or to update your membership for this grant. The deadline to renew or become a new member for this grant is Friday, 18 December 2009. You must contact the ABS Central Office by that date to activate your account on this site so you can complete the application process.
- After you have gone through steps 1 - 3 in the green bar above, and your proposal is ready to be submitted, contact the ABS Central Office so they can activate your access to the on-line application section. You will receive an e-mail with your user account information. You may also use the "contact" link above.
- Once you have filled in, validated, uploaded your document and corrected all errors or omissions, as a FINAL step you must submit your proposal for review by clicking on the green submit application button. Remember - you must submit your proposal as an Acrobat compliant PDF file. Depending upon the network, uploads can take several minutes so please be patient.
