Start here to apply on-line for the ABS Research/Developing Nations Grants for 2008

Getting Started

  1. Make sure you are logged in using your ABS username sent to you by the ABS Central Office when you applied for membership or renewed. You may need to create or recreate your own password. See the How To section if you are having problems.

  2. You must have read and agree to abide by the ASAB/ABS Guidelines for the Use of Animals in Research (updated in each January issue of the Journal: Animal Behaviour. A copy (pdf) can be found at this link:

  3. Download the example application before you start the on-line application process and make sure you have you proposal, budget, and c.v. in pdf format ready to upload. The example application contains all the details on animal care questions, permits needed, length of the proposal, budget questions, and your references.
  4. You only need to create one application to apply for any of the grants you are eligible. Select only the grants to which you meet the requirements see the Grant Information section for requirement information on each grant.
  5. Look over the How To sections to help you understand the on-line publishing process we use. You will use the drop down menu at the top of each section to navigate between the 7 sections of the application form. Information you enter will be saved automatically
  6. Once you have visited and filled in all the information in each of the 7 sections. Hit the validation button at the bottom of the page. This will check to make sure you have visited each page and take you back through the entire form to correct any errors.
  7. Once you have validated and corrected any errors or omissions as a FINAL step you must submit your proposal for review. Change the state of the proposal from: private to submit for committee review. This will notify the committee that you have filled in the entire application, checked it over, uploaded all three documents (proposal, budget, C.V>) and it is ready for the committee to review. You must change the document from private to submit before the final deadline or it will not be considered.
