Outstanding New Investigator Award

About the Award

The Outstanding New Investigator Award recognizes an outstanding contribution in animal behavior by a new investigator.

The Career Awards Committee solicits nominations from the membership and generates nominations to be presented to the EC for approval. An announcement is placed in the November and February issues of the newsletter that describes the award and invites society members to make nominations.

Nomination

Nomination should include:

  1. a letter indicating which award the nominee is being proposed for and providing details on why the nominee should be considered for that award
  2. the nominee's CV
  3. additional supporting letters from colleagues solicited by the nominator.

Materials should be sent to the Past President by March 1. Members and members-elect of the Executive Committee are not eligible for nomination until 18 months after completion of their service on the Executive Committee.

This Award need not be given every year. Final action by the Executive Committee on nominations presented by Career Awards Committee requires a majority affirmative vote with at least five yes votes. The Past-President is responsible for all aspects of the award process, including invitations, plaques and presentations, as well as nominations. Award winners are announced at the Annual Meeting of the Society banquet and a plaque is presented at the following year's meeting.
