A 'Survival Guide' to Snowbird

Breakfast and Lunch:

I believe every hotel room has a mini-fridge. Take advantage of this feature and fill it up with lunch and breakfast items. The 'General Gritt store' located on the bottom floor of the Snowbird Centre offers a full range of items including bagels, cereal, milk, rice milk, condiments, fruit, vegetables, cheese, sandwich meat, juice and a range of snacks. They also have plastic cutlery, however, I would recommend bringing a bowl. We got by without a bowl by keeping the plastic plates that were given to us at the coffee break and using the paper cups in our rooms for cereal bowls - not optimal but it works.

They also sell deli sandwiches at the 'General Gritt' that are reasonably priced compared to the rest of the resort ($5.00) as well as salads. Alternatively, a piece of pizza can be purchased from Pier 49 San Francisco Pizza (this is also a good place for dinner).

Appetizers and Drinks:

If you would like some beer and nuts before dinner but don't want to pay $10 for them I recommend going to the 'General Gritt' where you can buy beer and wine as well as a wide range of potato chips and nuts. Alternatively, 'The Tram Club', located on the bottom flour of the Snowbird Centre beside the Steak Pit, offers the closest thing to a pub atmosphere. They don't have much in the way of food but do sell nachos, french fries, chicken wings etc. They also have a pool table.

Dinner:

It is possible to purchase sit-down meals for under $10 (not including drinks) at the two lounges: The Aerie Lounge (top floor of Cliff Lodge) and the Lodge Bistro (bottom floor of the Lodge - note this is only open a few nights a week). The Keyhole has a few appetizers that are sufficient for a meal other wise you are looking at a minimum of $13-15. All other restaurant will cost a minimum of $20 per entrĀŽe.

Exercising:

For those of you that want to workout while you are at the conference there are a multitude of great running and hiking trials both at the top and bottom of the mountain. There are also two workout rooms. There is a small weight room in the 'Lodge' that is open all day and is free of charge. Alternatively, you can go to the much more elaborate weight/cardio room on the top floor of the 'Cliff Lodge'. If you get there before 7am you can get in free, after that it costs $5. There are a number of swimming pools, but the only one really conducive to doing laps in is the outdoor pool at the 'Cliff Lodge'.
